CNC Specialist - Metalworking – Northeast (PA / MD Based)
Location : Field-based – South Central Pennsylvania & Northeast Maryland (primary focus along the I-95 corridor from Baltimore to Wilmington , and I-83 from Baltimore to York , with additional business in Lancaster, PA )
About the Opportunity
An established industrial distributor is seeking a CNC Specialist - Metalworking , to support customers and drive business growth throughout the Northeast territory. This field-based role focuses on providing expert technical support, tooling recommendations, and strategic solutions to manufacturing clients in the region.
Sales experience is a plus, but the priority is finding someone who can serve as a trusted technical advisor , helping customers solve complex metalworking challenges and optimize their operations.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a technical resource for fabrication shops, machine shops, mills, forges, and foundries.
Build strong relationships with customers across the territory and develop a deep understanding of their tooling and machining needs.
Identify customer challenges and recommend metalworking tooling solutions that improve productivity and efficiency.
Partner with internal commercial teams and supplier representatives to support new business development initiatives.
Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects through networking, referrals, research, and cold outreach.
Provide tooling alternatives and product application advice, with a focus on preferred supplier solutions.
Secure RFQs and orders from both existing and prospective customers.
Document activities, pipeline updates, and opportunities in a CRM system.
Submit Documented Cost Savings (DCS) reports on a regular basis.
Stay current with product training, technical knowledge, and industry trends.
Plan and manage the territory strategically to ensure growth and sustainability.
Attend factory training, regional meetings, and relevant industry events (overnight travel required).
Qualifications
Required :
In-depth knowledge of metalworking products such as cutting tools, oils, coolants, and lubricants.
Hands-on CNC machining experience.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret complex machining applications.
Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in solving customer problems.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a field-based schedule independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
Willingness to travel overnight as needed for training and territory coverage.
Preferred :
Outside sales experience, particularly in industrial or MRO distribution .
Experience supporting manufacturing customers in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or machining coursework are a plus.
Pay Details : $90,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
