Description :
The Pharmacist works in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.
Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written prescriptions from the physician.
Participates on Performance Improvement plans within the organization.
Consults with and advises on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
Supports and serves as a consultant to clinical and medical staff.
Assists in coordinating and implementing pharmacy activities.
Interprets medication orders, compounds, and dispenses medications in accordance with professional standards.
Supervises technical support staff.
Assists with clinical, quality management, and education programs.
Provides support for all departments in patient care, particularly for adults and the geriatric population.
Participates in the maintenance and dissemination of drug information.
Actively assists other pharmacists and technicians in routine duties as necessary.
Directs activities and provides guidance to pharmacy personnel.
Exercises professional judgment when imparting therapeutic and drug information.
Ensures appropriateness of medications based on patient factors such as height, weight, age, and renal function.
Ensures correct filling of medication orders while preventing therapeutic duplication and significant drug interactions.
Maintains aseptic techniques and verifies technician-prepared products prior to release.
Ensures compliance with storage and security procedures for pharmacy products.
Monitors patient appropriateness for medication formulation.
Clarifies controversial orders with physicians as needed.
Keeps current on new drugs and ensures accurate labeling of containers.
Maintains communication with staff regarding workload status and priorities.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
