Description

Position Summary :

The Forklift Truck Driver is responsible for operating battery powered lift equipment in a safe and efficient manner, along with handheld scanning devices to manage placement of inventory within a warehouse environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities : (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Operates a variety of battery powered lift equipment to receive, put away, replenish, and load inventory within a distribution warehouse.
  • Assist with physical inventory to maintain accuracy of product in warehouse.
  • Provide routine general maintenance on lift equipment : nightly charging of unit batteries, watering, checking for wear, and requesting service on inoperable equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures in daily operations
  • Supporting other departments as needed to facilitate overall company operations
  • Demonstrating accountability, including decision-making and process improvements

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift License
  • 1-3 years Reach truck experience preferred
  • 1-3 years Counterbalance fork truck operator experience preferred
  • 3-5 years Warehouse Operations experience preferred

    • Special Requirements :

  • Occasional weekend work as required to meet business needs.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret paperwork.
  • Maintain consistent, dependable attendance
  • Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send / receive email messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing, bookkeeping, and / or data entry

    • Equipment Used :

    Safety Equipment : Safety shoes, Scanner, Calculator, Photocopier, Telephone, Pallet Jack, Forklift

    Computer Software : Microsoft Outlook / Express, Microsoft Word

    Physical and Mental Requirements :

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, crouch, kneel, bend, climb, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Close mental and visual attention to prepare and analyze data and figures, work on a computer, read, or control machines or processes at a rapid pace that requires close coordination and fine adjustment.

    • Salary : 18.00 / hr

    Environmental Conditions :

    Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperature changes and noise.
