Summary :

Join our dedicated team as a Phlebotomist in the Float Pool, where you'll play a vital role in patient care by performing specimen collection and management duties effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities :

• Ensure quality assurance in all services and operations to maintain customer satisfaction while optimizing costs.
• Maintain compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety standards, and privacy regulations for health information.
• Keep the collection area and equipment organized, sanitary, and well-stocked.
• Collaborate with the team lead for the procurement of necessary supplies.
• Perform all aspects of phlebotomy, including specimen collection, receiving, and sending out samples.
• Prepare specimens for outside laboratory referrals, including ordering tests, packaging, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Conduct all types of patient specimen collections including venipuncture, capillary collection, and cultures.
• Ensure that all specimen requirements are fulfilled at the time of collection to maintain specimen integrity.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and co-workers to foster a collaborative environment.
• Utilize the laboratory computer system for documenting specimen details, patient registration, and related tasks.
• Carry out additional duties as needed, such as standby / on-call, inventory management, and cross-training.
• Participate in performance evaluations and competency assessments in a timely manner.
