Summary :
Join our dedicated team as a Phlebotomist in the Float Pool, where you'll play a vital role in patient care by performing specimen collection and management duties effectively and efficiently.

- Maintain compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety standards, and privacy regulations for health information.
- Keep the collection area and equipment organized, sanitary, and well-stocked.
- Collaborate with the team lead for the procurement of necessary supplies.
- Perform all aspects of phlebotomy, including specimen collection, receiving, and sending out samples.
- Prepare specimens for outside laboratory referrals, including ordering tests, packaging, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Conduct all types of patient specimen collections including venipuncture, capillary collection, and cultures.
- Ensure that all specimen requirements are fulfilled at the time of collection to maintain specimen integrity.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and co-workers to foster a collaborative environment.
- Utilize the laboratory computer system for documenting specimen details, patient registration, and related tasks.
- Carry out additional duties as needed, such as standby / on-call, inventory management, and cross-training.
- Participate in performance evaluations and competency assessments in a timely manner.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
Preferred : High School diploma or equivalent.Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus.Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy training is preferred.Familiarity with medical terminology, data entry, and organizational skills are essential.Experience
Preferred : One year of phlebotomy experience.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is preferred.Phlebotomy Tech (PBT) certification or State licensure is preferred for candidates in Louisiana.As per CHRISTUS Health's policies, all associates are required to obtain necessary certifications within specified time frames.
