The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is a nationally recognized and award-winning agency providing land use planning; stewardship of natural, cultural, and historic resources; and delivery of recreation programs to the communities it serves. The agency operates in the Montgomery and Prince George's County Regions. The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George's County is seeking a dynamic and experienced Golf Course Manager to lead operations at a premier 18-hole golf facility. This multifunctional site includes a driving range, practice area, snack bar, and pro shop. Under general direction, the Golf Course Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations, including program development, staff supervision, budget management, and customer service. This role requires independent judgment, strategic planning, and a strong commitment to operational excellence and community engagement. The hiring range for this position will be $64,689 midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate's qualifications and education.

Examples of Important Duties :

• Manages a multi-functional recreational facility ensuring the safety and security of buildings, employees and patrons
• Supervises, hires, trains, counsels, and evaluates a diverse set of employees, establishing effective work schedules
• Monitors the completion and timely submission of timecards, petty cash, purchase orders and check request to ensure compliance
• Effectively interprets and communicates Commission policy and procedures to employees
• Provide a team management environment by organizing weekly, monthly, and quarterly staff and safety meetings
• Emphasizes the importance of customer service with staff members to ensure patrons are greeted and treated in a pleasant and professional manner
• Maintains an accurate club calendar that reflects all contracted events, Junior Golf programs, agronomy practices, holidays and in-house events
• Prepares, and sends effective correspondence as required on time to employees and the community
• Conducts facility audits regularly / daily concentrating on cleanliness and organization
• Ensure facilities are opened and closed properly
• Monitors expenses and revenues with special focus and emphasis on driving revenue and controlling bottom-line expenditures
• Provides accurate annual and monthly budget submissions as required and requested
• Provides accurate inventories for food, beverages, golf shop merchandise, club assets, and divisional assets
• Maintains and stores accurate financial records to ensure compliance with audit and divisional needs
• Analyzes budget-to-actual variances and provide clear, actionable insights to improve financial performance
• Administers, and oversees an effective tee time and point of sale (POS) system
• Monitors building utilities to ensure proper operations with a focus on promoting the efficient use of electric power, fuel, telecom, and water resources
• Ensures all print and electronic media like brochures, flyers, ads, and electronic posts are accurate, current, and posted
• Properly and effectively recycles Commission waste, including paper goods, plastics, glass, batteries, and other recyclable products
