Position Overview
The Campus IT Technician / Coordinator ensures the smooth operation, timely repair, and ongoing preventive maintenance of computing systems providing consistent support and innovative solutions to foster an environment conducive to educational excellence.
What you will be doing
- Oversees the management, support, and deployment of diverse operating systems such as Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile operating systems
- Coordinates IT projects and initiatives, including system upgrades, software installations, and security enhancements
- Serves as a liaison to academic and / or administrative departments, researching and implementing technology solutions that fit their needs and the campus's needs
- Investigates emerging technologies for potential integration into the campus IT infrastructure
- Installs and maintains computers, printers, applications, and other peripheral equipment
- Maintains an accurate inventory of all hardware and software assets
- Researches and evaluates purchase request for both hardware and software
- Designs, tests, deploys, and troubleshoots applications and operating system updates
- Creates and updates system and procedural documentation to streamline IT processes
- Develops and maintains equipment documentation and provide productivity reports
- Ensures all service requests using the college's help desk software are documented and proper escalation occurs as needed
- Trains and supervises other technical personnel, fostering a collaborative IT environment
- Provides specialized support and customer service to college constituents experiencing technical issues
- Supports the operations of technologies in classrooms and learning environments
- Performs preventive maintenance on hardware and software to ensure uninterrupted service
- Provides IT support to events and recruiting efforts
- Adheres to IT policies, procedures, and security protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
Associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related area and four (4) years of experience in IT support, computer programming, computer maintenance and troubleshooting, or six (6) years of related experience and industry certifications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresKnowledge of Active Directory services, including user accounts, group policies and security permissionsKnowledge in providing robust support within an enterprise environment, leveraging extensive technical knowledge to ensure seamless operations and user satisfactionExtensive knowledge in problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issuesExtensive knowledge in managing and optimizing multi-platform environments, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, ensuring high-performance computing and seamless cross-platform integrationKnowledge with classroom technology, including the setup and basic troubleshooting of devices like projectors and computers, to support an interactive learning environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work independently and / or in a collaborative environmentAbility to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignmentsAbility to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staffAdditional Requirements
