Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU ICU night shift position in California requiring a current CA RN license and at least two years of recent ICU experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes acute MI, CHF, PE, cardiomyopathy, complex post-Cath Lab, IABP, impella, cardiac surgery (CABG), AAA vascular cases, thoracotomies, and pneumonectomy
  • Candidates rarely care for fresh open heart patients
  • Unit consists of 12 beds split into 2 pods
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are CA state mandated (1 : 1 or 1 : 2) based on patient acuity
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
  • Travelers float as needed within their scope of skill
  • Epic EMR is used; Epic experience is preferred but not required
  • Responsibilities include care for complex cardiovascular and critical medical cases
  • Team structure supports travel nurses with orientation details provided on the first day
  • Every other weekend work is required
  • Scrub attire in any color is permitted, but no jeans
  • COVID vaccination status may be requested per facility policy
  • Radius rule applies for local vs. travel candidate eligibility

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU or CVICU experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Ability to float within ICU scope as needed
  • 2 professional clinical references from most recent roles required, including at least one from a nurse manager or director
  • Comprehensive employment history for the past 7 years with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
  • Current skills checklist completed within the last year
