Job Overview
As a Surgical Technician , you will work under the supervision of the surgical team in the Operating Room, delivering exceptional patient care throughout the perioperative experience. Your responsibilities will include :
- Assisting the Surgeon by providing the appropriate instruments.
- Maintaining and organizing operating room equipment.
- Adhering to the policies, procedures, and objectives of the department and hospital.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
Job Description Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.Experience as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility before July 1, 2013, OR completion of a military surgical technology training program; OR graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech Program.If employed as a Surgical Technologist after July 1, 2013, Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) is required.Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.Duties and Responsibilities :
The following duties are essential to the role and may evolve over time :
Function professionally as a Surgical Technologist across various surgical procedures.Maintain strict aseptic technique during set-up and procedures.Scrub on surgical cases and assist in organizing instrumentation.Select and prepare appropriate instruments and supplies for surgeries.Manage intraoperative medications and surgical specimens according to policy.Assist in patient positioning and transport as needed.Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.Foster a collaborative work environment with peers and colleagues.Physical Requirements :
Ability to work in semi-restricted and restricted environments of the Operating Room.Stand under hot surgical lights for extended periods.Lift patients and heavy equipment, with awareness of potential hazards.Frequent exposure to hazardous materials and conditions.Skills & Abilities :
Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection prevention.Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.Proficiency in using surgical equipment and technology.Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff and patients.Knowledge of procedures related to surgical specialties.
