Summary : Accurately identifies patients and employs proper venous or capillary techniques to collect specimens. Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and verified before leaving the patient. Prioritizes and transports specimens within established turnaround times.
Major Responsibilities :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy certification from ASCP, AMT, NHA, ACA, or NCCT is mandatory.
Experience : No prior work experience required.
Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of proper blood collection and handling techniques. Ability to communicate clearly and interact with patients compassionately. Manual dexterity and near visual acuity to discern colors. Physical capability to perform moderate to heavy walking and light lifting up to 25 pounds, including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Licenses and Certifications : Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent.
