Job Responsibilities :
Evaluate and treat patients in an outpatient setting using evidence‐based physical therapy techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve functional goals.
Interpret medical referrals and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical judgment.
Document patient care, treatment outcomes, and progress accurately in accordance with outpatient regulatory and billing standards.
Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and ongoing self‐care strategies.
Collaborate with referring providers and outpatient care teams to coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
Supervise and mentor Physical Therapist Assistants, students, and support staff as appropriate.
Participate in outpatient department performance improvement initiatives and maintain ongoing professional development.
Adhere to all outpatient clinic safety and infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene practices.
Position Qualifications :
Minimum Required :
Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy, receiving applicable degree in physical therapy study with Bachelors or Master's Degree or equivalent.
Possession of a current license or eligibility to be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New York.
CPR certification within the first 3 months of hire
Preferred :
Master's or Doctorate Degree; Previous physical therapy experience in a hospital‐based setting.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a department which consists of several clinical rooms and offices, and sometimes requires working in close quarters with other employees. These rooms are all air conditioned as well as heated. Work may also be performed in patient rooms throughout the hospitals or at an offsite location, as determined by contractual services.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT :
As needed, gloves, mask, gown, other personal protective equipment, as per blood and body fluid and isolation precautions. Off‐site locations may require safety goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, steel‐toed shoes, or other personal protective equipment required by the off‐site location.
