POSITION :

Lecturer in Ethnic Studies. The Ethnic Studies Department invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturers from candidates qualified to teach undergraduate Ethnic Studies courses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

M.A. in Ethnic Studies or related field with compelling evidence of strong undergraduate teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies or related field.

COMPENSATION :

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2.

Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

Ethnic Studies at CSU, Stanislaus is a department that engages critical, intersectional, decolonial, and community-responsive approaches to racism, racialization, and sovereignty.

The department centers on histories, contemporary experiences, and cultural expressions of Native American / Indigenous people, Black / African Americans, Chicano / a / xs-Latino / a / xs, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders within a regional, national, and / or global context.

The Ethnic Studies Department offers a minor and major and is part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

The university requires a criminal and / or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and / or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.

Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
