Dietary Clerk

Job Title

Job Summary: Responsible for securing patient meal selections and special requests and needs via telephone or face to face interactions. Contributes to patient satisfaction goals by providing quality service.

Essential Functions:

• Exhibits a friendly, caring attitude when answering or calling out on the phone, taking patient menu selection, confirming patient needs/requests, and discussing patients' needs and tray delivery time with nursing or departmental associates.
• Follows proper telephone etiquette and procedures with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
• Offers alternatives to the menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences, when patient inquires or needs additional selections.
• Responsive to patient's needs at all times. Resolves patient concerns or complaints immediately and/or reports needed assistance to supervisor as appropriate.
• Communicates any patient related problems/concerns to appropriate personnel, in a timely manner following department procedures.
• Complies with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met within guidelines of diet order limitations.
• Interacts with nursing to ensure patients' diet prescriptions are accurate, and patients' food needs are met.
• Maintains accurate information for each patient.

Range of Pay: Pay starting at $15.00.

Qualifications:

• Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Preferred: Current site-specific hospital food service experience or equivalent experience in customer service healthcare food focused position.
