SMAA is seeking a Full-time Nutrition Program Manager. The Nutrition Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for SMAAs Nutrition Services, including Meals on Wheels, Simply Delivered for ME, and Congregate dining programs. As the organizations largest and most far-reaching service line, the Nutrition Program requires a dynamic, organized, and mission-driven leader capable of overseeing complex logistics, staff and volunteer engagement, compliance, and innovation.
Responsibilities :
Reporting to the COO, the Nutrition Program Manager ensures that SMAAs Nutrition Program reflects the agencys strategic priorities of social care coordination, interdisciplinary teamwork, and volunteer innovation, while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead all aspects of Nutrition operations across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality of service.
- Partner with the COO to align Nutrition operations with SMAAs annual goals, budget, and strategic priorities.
- Manage staffing assignments, performance, and professional development of Nutrition Team Leads and site staff.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and SOPs to ensure continuity and compliance across all locations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data and feedback from clients, volunteers, and partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the CARE Team, Volunteer Services, and Healthy Living programs to integrate nutrition into the broader social care coordination model.
Program Growth & Innovation
Lead expansion of the Meals on Wheels and Simply Delivered for ME programs through targeted outreach, partnership building, and process optimization.Identify and pursue innovative approaches to meal delivery, menu design, and participant engagement to improve access and satisfaction.Leverage volunteer and community engagement strategies to build program sustainability and connection.Collaborate with the Advancement team to support fundraising, donor relations, and storytelling for nutrition initiatives.Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with all OADS, OAA, and State of Maine Nutrition Program regulations.Conduct annual and mid-year site reviews; develop corrective action plans and monitor resolution.Oversee menu development, dietitian collaboration, and documentation accuracy.Manage monthly and quarterly data submissions, including menu, waitlist, and outcome reports.Maintain current site agreements, vendor contracts, and food safety standards.Data & Reporting
Work with the Data Specialist to track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators, including meal counts, participant outcomes, volunteer retention, and operational efficiency.Ensure accurate and timely data entry, documentation, and audit readiness.Staff and Volunteer Development
Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture that values communication, reliability, and mission alignment.Partner with Volunteer Services to recruit, train, and engage volunteers across Nutrition sites.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs other duties as assigned.Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Human Services, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible administrative or program management experience, preferably in human services or healthcare.Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.Experience working with older adults or adults with disabilities preferred.Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and organizational skills with a results-driven approach.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems, and program reporting.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage staff, volunteers, clients, and partners.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of nutrition program regulations and best practices a plus.Salary and Benefits : This is an exempt position 40 hours per week.
