About The Position

Locum Physician Assistant (PA) – Cardiothoracic Surgery | New Jersey

Job Type : Locum Tenens

Location : New Jersey

Start Date : ASAP – October 2

Setting : Inpatient / Hospital-based

EMR : Cerner

Trauma Level : Not a trauma-designated facility

Schedule :

Weekdays (Mon–Fri) : 8–10 hour shifts (in-house)

Night Call : 6 : 00 PM – 6 : 00 AM

Weekend Call : Friday 6 : 00 PM – Monday 6 : 00 AM

Includes rounding from 7 : 00 AM – 12 : 00 PM on Saturday and Sunday

Patient Volume :

Operative : ~2 surgeries / day

Rounding : 5–12 patients / day (ICU + floor, includes consults)

Key Responsibilities :

First assist in cardiac surgery

Rounding and coordination of care

Diagnose and treat illnesses

Order and interpret tests

Write prescriptions

Suture removal

Required Procedures :

Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)

Retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit

Chest tube insertions

Requirements :

Certification : NCCPA, BLS, ACLS, PA-C

Licensure : Active New Jersey PA license (required)

Experience :

Minimum 2–3 years in cardiothoracic surgery

Proficient in EVH and first assist

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Credentialing : Estimated 60 days

Note : Candidates must hold an active NJ license due to the urgent timeline.
