Internal Affairs Deputy
This is a part-time temporary position this position may end at any time based on the needs of the department. Under direct supervision of the Internal Affairs Administrative Sergeant, the deputy will be responsible for assisting members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies as requested. The Internal Affairs Division accepts and subsequently investigates allegations of employee misconduct in accordance with Harris County Sheriff's Office policy and procedures, Harris County Civil Service, and Texas State law. Complaints and allegations are responded to courteously and professionally by highly trained and experienced Investigators who work under stringent guidelines in performing their investigative duties.
Duties and responsibilities :
- Support of Internal Affairs Division as a whole
- Interviews / interrogations of complainants, witnesses, and accused employees
- Provide written reports regarding the investigations
- Case management and evaluation
- Provide clear and concise presentations to the Administrative Disciplinary Committee (ADC) and District Attorney's Office
- Testify in Civil Service and / or Court regarding investigations
- Work closely with other IAD team members, other HCSO units, and regional law enforcement partner agencies
- Respond as directed by IAD supervisors to provide expertise and guidance to other HCSO units and regional law enforcement partner agencies
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and / or necessary
Minimum requirements :
Must be an honorably retired peace officerA minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related fieldMust have an active TCOLE peace officer licenseA minimum of two (2) years prior patrol and / or criminal investigative experienceKnowledge of :
Knowledge of the Texas Penal CodeArrest proceduresKnowledgeable in departmental policy, IAD SOP, and Bureau SOPsAdvanced techniques to locate and identify suspectsSkilled in :
Proficient in the use of IAPro, SIRs, Securus, ADAMS, Blue Team, SharePoint, Superion / RMS, FileOnQ, JWEB, Polaris, and JOTS computer systems; as well as the use of standard office software programs such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookProficiency with report writing and excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills both written and oralMicrosoft Office applicationsBasic open-source intelligence gatheringBasic computer useUse of basic social mediaWilling to learn advanced computer techniques and applications pertinent to the investigation and prosecution of employee misconductAbility to :

Benefits : This is a part-time temporary position without benefits. Hours : A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week. Hours are based on the needs of the department. Possibly including weekends and holidays. Location : Houston.
