Overview
The primary function of this position is the installation as well as calibration and commissioning of a range of technology on a variety of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment. The Mining Technology Systems Technician will support product application and hardware diagnostics and general support of various technology solutions, including Caterpillar MineStar, and product link.
What You'll Be Doing
Installing, configuring, and maintaining mining technology systems onboard heavy equipment.
- Supporting and integrating fleet management systems like Minestar, Dispatch, Terrain, and DSS.
- Performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting using strong analytical skills.
- Providing technical support and training to on-site teams.
- Collaborating with engineering and operations to improve system performance and reliability.
- Managing tasks in a fast-paced environment while following safety and compliance protocols.
- Diagnosing issues across a range of systems - from basic sensors to advanced control units, displays, networks, servers, and databases.

o 5 + years of experience in a technical role that involves troubleshooting, diagnostics, and successful repair solutions (ex. Technician - IT, GPS, Instrumentation, Electronics,
Agricultural, Heavy Equipment etc.)
o Education or training in a related field such as Information Technology, Heavy Equipment repair, Electronics, Mechanics, etc.
o Understanding of networking principles such as Linux, SQL, Telnet or other comparable applications is considered an asset
o Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification is considered an asset
o Previous experience in dispatch with the usage of corresponding system hardware (Cat MineStar, Jigsaw, Modular, Wenco) is considered an asset
o Experience with guidance and control system applications (GPS, LiDAR, Radar) is
o considered an asset
o Familiarity with the workings / models of Caterpillar and other branded off-road equipment working in a mining environment is considered an asset
o Valid driver's license
o Valid passport (or ability to obtain one upon employment)
Working Conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and / or hazardous materials.Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.Must be able to lift varied weight.Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
