Position Overview

IoT Solutions Architect Engineer This position reports to the Manager, Systems Integration Engineer. You will become part of the team responsible for assessing Americas government-owned manufacturing facilities (the Organic Industrial Base OIB) and developing strategies that integrate hardware, software, networks, and data storage aligned with opportunities at multiple facilities. You will also serve as an advocate and spokesperson, communicating the future state of digital manufacturing to MxD members and partners.

The IoT Solutions Architecture Engineer will meet with OIB stakeholders to educate them on IoT Solutions and identify opportunities that become projects, scope and prioritize them at their facilities, and lead to implemented solutions. You will translate stakeholder needs into new project requirements for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and review technical deliverables for new and existing projects at OIB facilities.

Candidates must have experience and practical knowledge in system design and integration, wired and wireless networks, cybersecurity, data management, and a basic understanding of manufacturing and modernization challenges. Ideal candidates will have experience working with the Department of Defense and other government stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

  • Describe IoT Architecture, assess opportunities, and outline steps to implement and sustain solutions
  • Assess manufacturing operations, apply root cause analysis for modernization opportunities, and recommend solutions
  • Create and update technical documents, including manuals, reports, and presentations
  • Consult with members and government stakeholders on IoT Solutions Architecture, especially for OIB opportunities
  • Provide IoT Solution Architecture solutions to real-life problems as required
  • Generate project requirements for industry Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Present and provide expertise for MxD and industry forums, webinars, and other venues related to modernization
  • Project manage the progress of projects and other key deliverables
  • Interface with MxD commercial and academic members on project design and implementation
  • Develop ROM and detailed budgets for IoT Solutions design and implementation
  • Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in Engineering or related field
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels at OIB facilities
  • Critical thinking and ability to answer process and technology questions on the fly
  • Ability to develop budgets for IoT or modernization projects
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to advancing manufacturing technologies in the U.S.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Must be available to work onsite
