The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Architect to support our Onboard Performance Tool group located in Seattle, WA . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization.

Architect, develop and maintain new capabilities for the Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) application used by airline pilots around the world to perform real-time weight and balance, takeoff, climb out, inflight and landing calculations. We are looking for a software architect with preferred experience in airplane performance and flight operations.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience developing applications for administrators and end users in airline operations, including flight operations and flight crew. Airplane performance domain knowledge required. C++ development experience is required on both MacOS and Windows; FORTRAN and SQL skills are a plus. Experience with agile software development, CI / CD environments, and cloud hosting of applications is desirable. Previous customer support and technical product management of airplane performance tools is desirable. Understanding of commercial, business and military airplane performance regulations a plus.

Position Responsibilities :

Oversees the architecture, design, development, analyses, and maintenance of large scale software systems that meet industry, customer and quality.

Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and oversees translation of system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.

Oversees code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.

Oversees monitoring and reviewing test completion, verification processes and issue resolution for software systems.

Oversees review of product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by consulting on tracking and evaluation of internal team and supplier performance.

Researches and oversees implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.

Oversees software project management and software supplier management activities.

Provide comprehensive technical oversight for different systems, guiding teams in designing and operating production-ready systems.

Engage in architectural discussions, influence the roadmap, and take ownership of key projects and initiatives.

Resolving complex technical issues and driving innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance.

Evaluate emerging technologies and seek innovative solutions to address existing and new challenges.

Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning.

Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.

Teamwork and coordination skills with ability to create clarity from ambiguity.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience) :

10+ years of experience in software development utilizing Java, C++ or C#

10+ years of hands-on experience in developing and deploying software programs

6+ years of experience writing and testing software

5+ years of architecting software solutions

Experience with designing mobile apps and desktop solutions

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience) :

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.

Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.

Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.

Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects.

Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Works under minimal direction.

Travel : less than 10%

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range : $167,450 - $226,550
