Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for representing Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) as an exemplary organization in the region. The Registrar will be the embodiment of the organization’s mission, vision and values. They will greet patients, families and guests upon arrival and assist them in navigating through all aspects of their hospital or clinic visit. The candidate will initiate the department process, inpatient admissions, and transfer paperwork; obtain and verify accurate identification and demographical data for the patient’s permanent medical record and billing. They will coordinate clerical, registration / admission and communication for efficient and effective operations of the department. The candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with insurance options, setting up payment arrangements, collecting insurance co-payments and deposits; obtain comprehensive information to protect the patient’s well-being and the financial interest of the institution.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Input emergency department patients into our system for triage in a timely
- Responsible for monitoring cameras to receive incoming ambulances
- Verify eligibility utilizing RGH tools or insurance portals
- Perform census at the end of every shift to ensure the status, room rate, and date / time is correct
- Implement downtime procedures in the event of our system being down
- Obtain signatures to include but not limited to Condition of Admission, HIPAA, Contract Service Waiver, Private Pay Notification
- Obtain authorization for inpatient or observation stays as required
- Responsible for building referral packets as required
- Responsible for the organization and storage of all outpatient folders
- Upon inpatient admission, obtain IMMA form for Medicare patients or MOON form for Observation patients
- Ability to visit patients in their room to complete or validate information, as necessary
- Assure that the collection of deposits and co-pays when applicable
- Advise self-pay patients of RGH’s programs to assist with balances
- Schedule appointments for patients in the clinic upon request from clinical staff
- Explain clinic and hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, charges, etc.
- Responsible for registering outpatient services outside of normal business hours
- Participate in data gathering for reporting
- Attend staff meetings on a monthly basis
- Post payments and provide patients with receipt
- Daily cash reconciliation and drawer count
- May be assigned to float to different departments for registrar coverage upon completion of training

Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalentMedical terminology knowledge preferred.Basic computer knowledgeTyping speed : minimum 40 wpm, computer knowledgeBilingual preferredProfessional Requirements
