Corporate Real Estate Strategist

Freddie Mac seeks an experienced, driven and multifaceted Corporate Real Estate Strategist to support real estate strategy development and optimization of our corporate real estate portfolio. This key role will be responsible for maximizing the value of existing properties and driving the development of new corporate office workplace strategies to meet our business objectives and align with our mission. This person will leverage data and analytics to drive decision making, build and create new processes, drive efficiencies, and help align the real estate function with the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate real estate, workplace strategy and financial analysis.

The Corporate Real Estate team develops portfolio-wide real estate and workplace strategies, manages Freddie Mac's owned and leased properties, and leads the design and implementation of corporate workplace projects, programs and amenities. Initiatives include workplace analytics, scenario planning, financial modeling, programming, and coordination with consultants, architects, engineers, brokers and contractors.

Your Impact :

  • Develop, maintain, and champion the use of data analytics and reporting tools to expand the breadth and depth of real estate in pursuit of improved visibility to management, support strategic and tactical decision making.
  • Support Division Leadership in setting strategies and goals.
  • Oversee progress of key real estate initiatives.
  • Track decisions and progress connected to the multi-year plan.
  • Responsible for analysis, forecasts, and business case preparation for Real Estate Steering Committee and Executive Leadership meetings.
  • Document operating standards and governance processes.
  • Financial Oversight : Develop strategies and help manage annual budgets for capital projects, moves / adds / changes, office leases and G&A expenses. Analyze financial performance and implement cost-effective measures to reduce operational expenses.
  • Market Analysis : Conduct regular market assessments to identify opportunities for leasing, acquisition, development, and redevelopment of commercial properties to ensure properties are competitive in the market.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in a corporate real estate - related field, preferred.
  • Professional certifications are a plus.
  • 8-10 years of experience in corporate real estate, with a proven track record of developing and implementing real estate and workplace strategies.
  • Proficiency in the creation and delivery of executive presentations.
  • Tableau and Microsoft Project experience preferred.
  • Keys to Success in this Role :

  • Strong understanding of corporate real estate markets, leasing, and development processes.
  • Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Keen understanding of real estate financial modeling.
  • Experience developing materials and presenting to C-level executives.
  • Proficient in real estate management software, financial modeling, and Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Workplace benchmarks and trends, building codes, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with owned and leased office portfolio strategy.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate business strategy.
  • Experience with real estate portfolio optimization strategies, including location strategy, portfolio restructuring & cost optimization, implementation and planning and analytics.
  • Experience with workplace strategy including developing change management and communications plans, understanding of integrated Real Estate, IT and HR solutions business case development and workplace vision, strategy, design and implementation.

    This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $118,000 - $178,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
