George Allen Construction is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to join our dedicated team. You will be instrumental in overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

This role requires a full-time commitment to travel across the East and Mid-West railroad territories. Travel assignments typically last 12 to 18 months. You will work for approximately three weeks at a time, followed by a minimum of 48 hours at home , with all accommodations and expenses covered during travel, including one trip home per month. Our projects often run through the winter months, though some winter shutdowns may occur depending on weather conditions.

Relocation is required for this position.

Responsibilities

As a Traveling Supervisor, your core responsibilities will include :

Project Coordination : Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.

Quality and Safety : Perform quality control duties, coordinate inspections, ensure subcontractor compliance with the scope of work, and proactively identify and report safety and quality standards non-compliance, issuing notices of non-compliance when necessary.

Communication & Documentation : Maintain a daily log of job site activities, monitor progress, and communicate effectively with the project team regarding RFIs (Requests for Information), material submittals, and construction progress conflicts. Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings.

Site Management : Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the site, secure the job site daily, manage job progress, and complete punch lists. Identify work areas outside the subcontracted scope.

Project Planning Support : Assist in budgeting, bidding, and subcontract award processes. Obtain necessary permits, gather material submittals, and preside at pre-construction meetings.

Customer Support : Serve as a liaison, assisting customers by providing product and service information and resolving technical issues.

Qualifications

Experience : Minimum of three years of verifiable experience in a supervisory construction role with comprehensive knowledge of construction trades.

Reading / Writing : Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence.

Communication : Capable of effectively communicating with groups of customers or organization employees.

Computer Proficiency (Preferred) : Proficiency in computer literacy is required; construction industry experience is preferred. Experience with Master Builder and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook) is also preferred.
