Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN licensed in OR for a night shift position with floating requirements and Epic charting.

Responsibilities

Work in the Emergency Department of a short-term acute care teaching hospital

Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00

Every other weekend is required, with possible consecutive weekends

Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4

Floating required within hospital units and to nearby affiliate hospitals based on need

Travelers may occasionally float to several locations within the region

Epic is used for electronic charting and documentation

Scrub attire may be any color; in the ED, scrubs are provided by the facility

Responsibilities include providing patient care to a diverse emergency department population

All requested time off must be submitted during initial application and excessive RTO may impact eligibility

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Travelers' refusal to float may result in termination of assignment

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Free parking is available onsite

Modules for orientation are completed pre-start and annually

Requirements

Active OR RN license required

Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience preferred unless otherwise specified

Current certifications as required for ER nursing (such as BLS and ACLS)

Experience with Epic charting system required

Must have a vehicle for commuting and potential floating to nearby facilities

Able to provide two supervisory references from the past three years

Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility for travel pay eligibility

Former perm staff must have a 3-month gap before returning as a traveler
