Summary Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) - Brain Health Unit Location : Levindale Hospital, LifeBridge Health - Baltimore, MD Sign-On Bonus : Up to $1,000 Pay $20.00 Unit Summary The Brain Health Unit (BHU) at Levindale Hospital consists of two 40-bed units staffed by a compassionate and skilled team of over 100 professionals. Our team is known for exceptional communication, empathy, and professionalism—building trust through clear boundaries and confidentiality. Patients admitted to the BHU typically present with both medical and psychiatric diagnoses . With an average length of stay of 23 days , staff have the unique opportunity to observe patient behavior, foster meaningful therapeutic relationships, and support each patient’s journey toward greater independence and self-awareness. During their stay, patients receive comprehensive support including medication management, rehabilitation therapy, and assistance with daily living activities . Staff also promote engagement and healing through structured group programs and one-on-one interactions designed to enhance emotional and physical well-being. Job Summary As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) on the Brain Health Unit, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, high-quality care to adults with complex medical and behavioral health needs. You will assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) , help maintain a safe and clean environment, and offer emotional support that encourages recovery and dignity. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff Assist with ADLs including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff Support patient safety and participate in de-escalation when needed Promote patient engagement through activities and therapeutic programs Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic systems Requirements High School diploma or GED equivalent Current Maryland GNA licensure (C-GNA) Current CPR and First Aid certification Basic knowledge of medical equipment (e.g., Hoyer lifts, specialty beds) Ability to use communication systems, Synquest, and basic computer tools Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care Preferred Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in a Medical, Dementia, or Behavioral Health setting Why Join LifeBridge Health?
