Summary :

The Team Lead is a responsible member of the OR Leadership team who uses available resources to meet physician and customer needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice. Works with OR Supervisor / Director to promote a team environment and maintains good communication with Director, Supervisor, Surgeons and Staff.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.

  • The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites
  • A teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center
  • Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team

Responsibilities :

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Under the direction of the Peri-op Services Director / OR RN Lead / Charge Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during and after any surgical procedure.
  • As the lead First Assist for a service line, provides leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service.
  • Includes care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times and inventory management.
  • Daily collaboration with OR RN Lead.
  • Is a mentor / coach for orientees within that service line.
  • Job Requirements : Education / Skills

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Graduation from accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or School of Surgical Technology required
  • Experience

  • 2 years of Surgical Tech experience required
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • BLS required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant required
  • ACLS preferred
  • Work Schedule : Varies
