SUMMARY :
The role of a Build Technician is to assist in building complex assemblies for low-volume autonomous vehicle production. As a Build Technician, you will work closely with the production team to construct intricate mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, ensuring precision, efficiency, and adherence to quality systems and safety standards. This position requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, apply fabrication and modification skills, and maintain exceptional attention to detail. Strong manual dexterity, computer literacy, and problem-solving abilities, along with a commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and data-driven work environment, are crucial for success in this role.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Collaborate with the production team to assemble and fabricate complex components for low-volume autonomous vehicle builds.
- Perform MIG welding, wiring, and harness assembly to integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
- Follow technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate assembly and modification of intricate assemblies.
- Utilize torque systems, assembly tools, and specialty tooling to complete builds according to engineering requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks to verify accuracy, functionality, and adherence to build documentation and production standards.
- Collect and merge production and test data to support process improvement and traceability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues or discrepancies related to electronic components, wiring, or mechanical fits.
- Apply prototype experience to assist in early-stage development and product improvement efforts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety and quality protocols.
- Demonstrate leadership and teamwork within the production environment to meet project timelines and goals.
- Adhere to deadlines and production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS :
1–2 years’ experience in assembling complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in robotics, vehicle, or heavy trucking industries preferred.Hands-on experience with fabrication, MIG welding, wiring, electronic components, and prototype builds.General knowledge of interior and exterior vehicle assembly, service, and aftermarket modifications.Proficient with build documentation, quality systems, and data collection tools.Ability to view and interpret CAD images and technical drawings.Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar applications.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and manual dexterity.Effective communication and teamwork skills; leadership experience is a plus.High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma, journeyman, or apprenticeship training in a related field preferred.Certification in robotics, electronics, or fabrication is a plus.Welding certification is preferred.INDQT
