BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST

OBJECTIVE

The Behavior Specialist, in collaboration with other members of the Office of Specialized Instruction and School based teams, assists with consultation, development / design and implementation of behavioral / social / emotional interventions throughout the district.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assist with linkages and referrals for youth identified as in need of community-based services in supports.
• Assist in the development of targeted and intensive level interventions and strategies.
• Provide direct services to a referred group of targeted students.
• Develops methods of tracking effectiveness of behavior support plans
• Regularly reviews and analyzes data and make changes to plans as necessary.
• Prepare and provide CPI / PMT training to district staff on an "as needed" basis.
• Assist teachers in the development and implementation of social skills curricula appropriate to students' ages and abilities.
• Collaborate with school personnel in the development of behavior plans.
• Assist in the development and implementation of alternative interventions to suspension.
• Provide on-going staff observation and feedback related to behavioral treatment integrity.
• Participates in meetings and professional development as required or appropriate.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and / or parent information.
• Models good attendance and punctuality.
• Additional duties may be assigned by Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services and Operations and the Director of Specialized Instruction.
