Overview
The Safety and Health Operations Manager will play a critical role in overseeing safety initiatives across multiple distribution centers. This position is dedicated to ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. The ideal candidate will foster a proactive safety culture and lead initiatives that drive continuous improvements in workplace safety performance. Your mission will involve reducing workplace injuries, enhancing total case incident rates (TCIR), and implementing sustainable safety programs aligned with organizational goals.
Essential Functions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE regulations.
- Conduct transparent compliance audits through HSE walk-throughs, corrective action logs, and risk assessments while promoting best practices in safety.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and training programs related to occupational safety, health, accident prevention, and environmental compliance.
- Lead investigations on near misses, incidents, and corrective actions to uncover root causes and report findings effectively.
- Create and implement innovative programs aimed at decreasing work-related incidents or injuries, with a focus on prevention strategies.
- Manage HSE training initiatives covering topics such as Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, and Lockout / Tagout.
- Encourage collaboration and engagement through HSE committees that strengthen workplace safety culture.
- Design and execute a long-term HSE strategy that aligns with the company's mission and vision.
- Benchmark safety performance against industry standards to drive continuous improvement.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and report on safety metrics like TCIR, DART, and near-miss frequency to leadership, ensuring timely compliance documentation.
- Act as the primary contact with regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, EPA) during inspections or audits.
- Oversee emergency response planning and conduct drills in all distribution centers to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
- Implement and manage EHS software systems for tracking incidents, training, and compliance.
- Uphold strict confidentiality in all matters.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.7-10 years of experience in HSE leadership, preferably within logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing sectors.CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or OSHA 30 / 500 certification required.Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.Physical Demands
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Capable of reading from screens.Able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.Mobile within an office environment to access equipment and files.Required to sit for 7+ hours and stand / walk for 7+ hours daily.Able to operate a vehicle for 3+ hours and travel by air for 8+ hours.Benefits
