Job Title : Pathologists Assistant Profession : Laboratory Specialty : Pathology Technician Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day Hours per Shift : 8 hours Experience : Minimum 1 year required; preferred 5 years License : Valid state license required Certifications : ASCP-PA certification required Must-Have : This position requires certification as a Pathologists Assistant. Description : The Pathologists Assistant provides Anatomic Pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. The Pathologists Assistant works independently, utilizing medical knowledge to perform examinations of human specimens for diagnosis and patient treatment. This role functions in support of and as an adjunct to the physicians in Pathology. The position requires skills such as obtaining and reviewing patient clinical information, preparing tissues for histological processing, and specimen receipt and labeling. Candidates may assist and train Pathology Residents in gross room techniques. This position does not require weekend shifts or on-call duties. Travelers must comply with all requirements and have the ability to float within service line as needed.
