Med / Surg RN Job Details – Jacksonville, IL

Location : Jacksonville, IL 62650 (Illinois nursing jobs)

Facility Type : Critical Access, Magnet Hospital

Unit : Med / Surg (THREE SOUTH)

Shift : 3x12-Hour Nights (19 : 00 - 07 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Contract Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 15 / 2025 – End : 3 / 16 / 2026)

Patient Ratio : 1 : 6

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Charting System : Cerner EMR

Scrub Color : Any solid color

Parking : Free with permit

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2000 - $2050

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Illinois RN license (or in application process with ETA)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience in a hospital setting

BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)

ACLS certification preferred

Proven experience starting and maintaining IVs

Experience with Cerner EMR and teaching hospital environments preferred

Community hospital experience preferred

Ability to float between two Med / Surg units as needed

Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment covers holiday period

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted)

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a 25-bed Med / Surg unit

Manage a patient load of up to 6 patients per shift

Float between observation and inpatient Med / Surg units as needed

Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, and monitor patient progress

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services

Document all care using Cerner electronic medical records

Provide patient and family education to support positive outcomes

Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times

Respond to rapid response and code situations as required
