Senior Product Development Engineer – Amphenol Communications Solutions

Location : Valley Green, PA (Etters, PA – High Speed IO Connector team) – Department : Engineering – Posted : 10 / 20 / 2025

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop cable assemblies and / or IO connector systems from initial proposal to successful tooling and product qualifications.
  • Perform Design FMEA, Tolerance Analysis, Design for Manufacturability, FEA Analysis, and Risk Analysis.
  • Work with Marketing and the customer to define customer needs and functional performance requirements and assess technical risk.
  • Engage internal and external (vendor) manufacturing disciplines including Stamping, Plating, Molding, and Assembly to optimize design for production processes.
  • Lead product design reviews.
  • Verify accuracy of product drawings and ensure proper usage of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Collaborate with Materials Engineering to define metal and polymer material choices based on performance, pricing, and global sourcing.
  • Present product concepts to customers early in the development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate revised requirements into the design.
  • Define product, application, and packaging specifications.
  • Define verification and product qualification test plans.
  • Manage resolution of first article inspections.
  • Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure products transition to manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical design.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent coursework and experience.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, FEA simulation (ANSYS preferred), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and Statistical Engineering methods.
  • Ability to work effectively within a project team and to direct the activity of others.
  • Strong communication skills with global customers.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and high-speed cable / connector design preferred.
  • Experience with signal-integrity performance design preferred.
