Our client is seeking a skilled accountant to join their Malta-based team, working closely with local colleagues and group supporting departments. This role will focus primarily on investments and reinsurance accounting while offering the opportunity to develop expertise in IFRS 9 and 17 standards. The accountant will contribute to IFRS close and reporting processes, while also supporting treasury operations and liquidity planning as part of cross-training and backup responsibilities.

Responsibilities :
- Perform technical investment accounting and reporting (IFRS 9) and reinsurance accounting (IFRS 17 & 9). Contribute to the generation of analytics, financial statement disclosures, and support internal and external audits.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and other accounting duties, including the production, validation (quality assurance), and analysis of data as well as analytics for financial statement balances.
- Support quarterly closing activities for the group and external local institutions for IFRS and Solvency II reporting.
- Assist with various compliance-related tasks within the Finance department, including updating internal controls, policies, and guidelines.
- Develop presentation materials to help management understand performance results.
- Handle other general accounting duties related to investments, reinsurance, treasury operations, and other areas as assigned.
- Contribute to process improvement projects as part of ongoing finance transformation efforts.
Profile and Skills :
University degree in accounting or an equivalent qualification; ACCA preferred.Strong technical accounting and reporting capabilities, especially in investments and reinsurance. Intermediate knowledge of IFRS standards relevant to insurance companies (e.g., IFRS 9).At least 2 years of work experience in the Maltese financial industry, preferably in insurance and / or reinsurance accounting and reporting.Quick to grasp concepts and understand the inter-relationships between different components of financial processes.Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a high level of diligence.Ability to work independently, collaborate cross-functionally, and thrive in a team environment.Assertiveness in working within a group-wide environment with cross-functional interfaces and stakeholders.Fluent in business English with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.A confident personality with a positive attitude.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.This role offers an exciting opportunity to advance in a leading global organization, providing exposure to both reinsurance and investment accounting while developing IFRS expertise.
