Position overview :
The Department of Chemistry at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach Chemistry courses during the 2025-26 academic year.
TCNJ is seeking individuals committed to delivering high-quality instruction, employing high-impact pedagogies, and fostering student engagement in both lecture and laboratory settings.
Responsibilities :
Adjuncts will be expected to follow the course curriculum, grade student work, administer exams, deliver lectures, assign homework, and provide additional support to students as needed. Teaching assignments may include Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Biochemistry. Biochemistry offerings include a one-semester course for non-majors as well as a combined biochemistry / organic chemistry / general chemistry course designed for nursing majors.
Qualifications :
Assignments will depend on the department's needs and the candidate's expertise. The department particularly values instructors who apply active learning strategies, student-centered instruction, and inquiry-based laboratory methods.
A masters degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field is required, along with evidence of teaching experience at the college level and qualifications aligned with the specific course(s) being taught.
