Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and well-connected Community Outreach and Engagement Director to be the face and voice of Education at Work in New Mexico. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional passionate about making a difference. You will be instrumental in building and nurturing the key relationships necessary to deepen our impact and expand our operations. Working closely with our partners at American Student Assistance and the Work-Based Learning Alliance, you will be the senior E@W leader as we enter the New Mexico market, working collaboratively with the state education agency to oversee their Summer Enrichment Internship Program (a new contract won through the competitive bid process). Working with the CEO, the Chief Growth Officer, and senior leadership, you will execute a comprehensive outreach strategy targeting education, business, philanthropic, and public sector leaders across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community & Public Sector Engagement : Proactively develop and maintain strong relationships with New Mexico's political, education (K-12 and post-secondary), and community leaders to champion E@W's mission and build a network of support.
  • Business Development : Act as a brand ambassador within the New Mexico business community. Network strategically at chamber events, industry meetings, and other functions to identify and cultivate business development leads for our student employment services as well as placements for High School interns.
  • Philanthropic Outreach : Identify, research, and connect with local and regional foundations, corporations, and individual philanthropists to generate financial support for our non-profit mission.
  • Public Funding : Investigate and identify additional local, state, and federal public funding opportunities that align with E@W's work. Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the NMHSEIP contract exceeds expectations and paves the way for growth.
  • Strategic Collaboration : Serve as a key liaison between the New Mexico community and E@W's internal teams, ensuring that local insights inform our growth, recruitment, and operational strategies.
  • Event Representation : Represent E@W at community events, conferences, and meetings to enhance our visibility and articulate our value proposition to diverse audiences.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience : 5-7 years of professional experience in the public or non-profit sector working on workforce development or education and training.
  • Local Expertise : A deep, demonstrated understanding of the New Mexico political, business, and philanthropic landscape is essential. You should have an established network of contacts in the community.
  • Relationship Builder : A natural connector with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and networking skills. You are confident, articulate, and professional.
  • Proactive & Independent : A self-starter who can take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and work independently to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Mission-Driven : A genuine passion for workforce development, career-connected education, and creating opportunities for students.
  • Education : A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Bilingual : Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • This role is more than a job; it's a chance to build a stronger future for New Mexico students. You will have a direct impact on our growth and the lives of the students we serve. If you are a motivated community-builder looking to leverage your network for a powerful cause, we encourage you to apply.
