Job Title : Family and Consumer Science Teacher
Position Function : Teaches and facilitates learning and maintains academic progress, discipline, and records for students at the high school grade level. Works with parents and students to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.
Essential Performance Responsibilities :
- Instructs through lectures, discussions and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studies
- Establishes clear objective for all lessons, unites and projects, communicates those objectives to students
- Collaborates and communicates with staff to meet the education needs of students
- Creates, administers, and grades tests to evaluate student progress
- Establishes and enforces rules and procedures which help maintain order in the classroom
- Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on the progress of students. Discusses students' problems and progress with parents and staff
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
- Prepares classroom instructions to promote students' success on state assessment exams
- Observes, enforces, and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district
Additional Duties : Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment : This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
Travel : Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.
