Job Description

An outpatient physical therapist with associated university degree and current, valid SC PT license, to help patients regain mobility, manage pain, and improve their overall quality of life. Job tasks may include :

Consultation and Assessment including :

o    Consulting with patients to understand their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history.

o    Assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results.

o    Developing personalized treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques .

Treatment Planning and Implementation including :

o    Creating individualized rehab programs for patients.

o    Utilizing various treatment methods, such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound).

o    Educating and Coaching patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition .

Providing Hands-On Therapy and Pain Management techniques including :

o    Manual therapy, joint mobilizations, soft tissue mobilization, etc.

Maintaining patient’s electronic medical record including :

o    Maintaining accurate patient records, tracking goals and progress.

o    Documenting adaptations to treatment plans based on patient response and changing needs.

o    Advising patients and their families on in-home treatment options and recovery expectations and appropriately documenting education

Additional Job Description

Education : Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program, greater than one year experience as a physical therapist, and licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

(Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include : To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20 / 40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance / relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
