Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor, Inc. is seeking an experienced
- Commercial Plumber III
- to serve as a senior-level tradesperson on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. This role performs advanced plumbing installation, layout, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration with minimal supervision. The Plumber III acts as a lead on-site resource—providing technical direction, mentoring lower-level plumbers, and coordinating closely with foremen, superintendents, inspectors, and project managers to ensure high-quality, code-compliant, and timely project delivery.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, layout, and install plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, gas piping, medical gas (if applicable), and fixture connections.Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine layout, materials, and installation procedures.Perform advanced piping methods including soldering, brazing, threading, grooving, and fusion welding (where applicable).Install and test pumps, backflow prevention devices, water heaters, PRVs, and associated equipment.Conduct hydrostatic, air, and performance testing to verify system integrity and ensure compliance with state and local codes.Lead, mentor, and coordinate the work of Plumber I & II team members; monitor progress, quality, and adherence to project schedules.Communicate with supervisors, general contractors, and inspectors to resolve conflicts, clarify design intent, and maintain smooth workflow.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.Prepare daily reports, material requests, documentation, and time entries as required.Troubleshoot complex plumbing issues and perform repairs independently or with minimal direction.Ensure all installations comply with applicable building codes, drawings, specifications, safety regulations, and project documentation.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExpert understanding of commercial plumbing systems, installation techniques, and code requirements.Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, and schematics.Leadership capability to direct small crews, assign tasks, and mentor junior plumbers.Proficiency using plumbing tools, equipment, and machines including threading machines, groovers, soldering and welding equipment.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively across trades.Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under tight deadlines.In-depth knowledge of OSHA requirements and ability to promote a strong safety culture.Education & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program preferred.Minimum 5+ years of commercial plumbing experiencewithin a mechanical contracting environment required.Supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred.Field of StudyPlumbing Technology, Mechanical Systems, or related trade discipline.Certifications & LicensesValidGeorgia Journeyman or Master Plumber Licenserequired.ValidAlabama Journeyman or Master Plumber Licensepreferred.Equivalent trade certifications considered.OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.Backflow Prevention Certification preferred.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.How to ApplyApply directly through Indeed or submit your resume through our website :
