About the Role
As our IT Systems Administrator, you'll be the go-to technical resource for our Sacramento office: owning M365 administration, endpoint management, and day-to-day IT operations while helping us scale securely as we grow. A meaningful and evolving part of this role involves our Enterprise AI program - administering the platforms our team uses today and helping employees get real value from them. You'll report to the VP of IT and work directly with employees across every part of the business. If you like ownership, variety, and the satisfaction of keeping a high-performing team unblocked, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
User Support
- Serve as the primary onsite IT resource for the Sacramento office
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for Windows and macOS endpoints, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals
- Own hardware lifecycle: procurement, configuration, deployment, and decommission
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, hardware, and software issues; escalate to vendors where appropriate
Systems & Infrastructure
- Administer core M365 platforms: Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams
- Manage the full user lifecycle - provisioning, access reviews, and deprovisioning - across M365, VPN, and business-critical applications
- Monitor system health and proactively address reliability, performance, and security gaps
- Maintain and improve backup, patching, and endpoint protection strategies
- Support network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, switches) in partnership with MSPs
Enterprise AI Support
- Administer Enterprise AI platforms currently in use across the organization - including Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Claude - covering licensing, access controls, usage policies, and vendor management
- Serve as the internal go-to for end-user AI support: onboarding employees, driving adoption, and helping teams build effective AI habits in their day-to-day workflows
- Develop and deliver training materials and guidance to help non-technical staff get practical value from AI tools
- Monitor platform usage and surface feedback to inform how the organization's AI tooling evolves
- As the role matures: identify opportunities to build internal tooling and workflows, and support agentic integrations where appropriate
Security & Compliance
- Enforce MFA, least-privilege access, device compliance policies, and patch cadences
- Support audits, compliance initiatives, and security assessments
- Document and respond to security incidents, including remediation and post-incident review
Operations & Documentation
- Maintain clear, current documentation for configurations, runbooks, and procedures
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual overhead
- Manage IT asset inventory and lifecycle tracking
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in IT support or systems administration
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365: Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, Wi-Fi)
- Experience implementing security controls: MFA, endpoint compliance, and patch management
- Experience administering or supporting Enterprise AI platforms (Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, or equivalent)
- Ability to translate AI platform capabilities into practical, accessible guidance for non-technical end users
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to work independently under pressure
- Clear communicator — you can explain technical issues to non-technical people without condescension
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you've had to build process, not just follow it
- PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks
- Familiarity with AI workflow automation or agentic concepts — and genuine curiosity to develop deeper capability in this area
- Exposure to API-based AI integrations or low-code/no-code automation tools (Power Automate, Zapier, or similar)
- Microsoft certifications (MS-102, AZ-104) or CompTIA Security+/Network+
