Public Works Operations Supervisor For Parks And Facilities
The City of Sherwood is hiring a Public Works Operations Supervisor for Parks and Facilities!
Under general direction, plan, organize, direct, supervise and review the activities of one or more assigned Operations Division programs that are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city's parks and facilities. Perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned areas of responsibility. Oversee contracts and programs as needed. Oversee events and act as liaison for internal and external groups and committees. Responsible for supervising one to twelve full time employees, depending on area of assignment. May provide training and orientation to volunteers, students and newly assigned personnel on site policies and practices.
Essential duties include coordinating operations and activities of assigned operations section, participating in preparing annual budget and capital improvement planning, developing contract specifications, supervising assigned staff, evaluating status of assigned operations section, preparing and monitoring work plans, responding to public inquiries, and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Typical qualifications include knowledge of assigned area of responsibility, considerable knowledge of federal, state, and regional guidelines related to the maintenance of the City's infrastructure, principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation, principles and practices of administration, budget, and personnel management, and thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures.
Education and experience typically include a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented with college level course work equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree, and five years of related experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity or project management or lead worker responsibilities.
Special requirements / licenses include a valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tank endorsement, current CPR / First Aid card, Work Zone Traffic Safety certification, and Forklift certification. Depending on area of assignment, certifications may include Confined Space Entry, Oregon Water Treatment Level I Certification, Oregon Water Distribution Level II Certification, Cross Connection Specialist Certification, Oregon Wastewater Collection Level II, Hazardous Material certification, Playground Inspection certification, Public Pesticide Applicators license, and Building Operators Certification.
Desirable qualifications include previous experience within the City of Sherwood Public Works Department and State of Oregon Limited Electrical License, DEQ Emissions Certificate, DEQ / EPA Refrigerant Certificate, HVAC Technician, and Resource Management School Certification.
Physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, communicating, reaching, manipulating objects, and operating standard office equipment. Working conditions include exposure to fumes, oils, and chemicals, and 24-hour emergency duties.
