Job Description
Assessment : Through a systematic process of interaction with patient, the patient's significant others, and health care providers, collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural and anticipated discharge needs; determines patient's alcohol or drug toxicity; identifies signs of withdrawal; conducts screenings or assessments to determine treatment needs.
Planning : Each patient's unique needs are identified and incorporated into a comprehensive and individualized care plan. The severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability is an important element of the planning.
Implementation / Care of the patient : The care and treatment of the patient are rendered in a competent manner and are based on current chemical dependency and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards; care is evaluated against the goals and plan of care and is revised periodically, as appropriate to the patient.
Continuum of Care : Facilitates the patient's access to the appropriate level of care and setting.
Supervision of patient care services : Identifies and oversees the operation of the nursing program and services necessary to meet key mental health needs of the community in keeping with the hospital's philosophy and goals; monitors, evaluates, and assists in modifying clinical services, utilizing the input and skills of the nursing staff.
Conducts intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
Makes nursing diagnosis of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommends treatment options.
Consults with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
Qualifications and Job Info
Must be licensed RN and able to practice in current state
Two years of management experience preferred
Experience in inpatient mental health settings at a management level
CPR required; BLS, ACLS, CPI certifications preferred
