We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Phlebotomist / Patient Service Coordinator to join our growing multispecialty private practice. In this vital role, you will support both clinical and administrative operations to provide patients with a seamless, professional, and caring experience. This is a fully in-person role requiring travel between our Brooklyn and Queens offices.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and patient-focused, with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Phlebotomy & Laboratory Support : Perform accurate and safe venipuncture and specimen collection; properly label, process, and prepare samples for laboratory submission following established protocols and infection control procedures.Patient Check-In & Check-Out : Greet patients, verify insurance and demographic information, collect co-pays, and ensure all necessary forms and authorizations are completed.Appointment Scheduling & Coordination : Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments in coordination with providers, optimizing daily office flow and minimizing wait times.Patient Communication : Handle a high volume of patient calls with professionalism and courtesy; address inquiries regarding appointments, lab tests, and care instructions.Administrative Support : Maintain accurate electronic health records in the EMR system; ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.Clinical Support : Assist providers with basic clinical duties such as obtaining vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and managing patient flow when needed.Financial & Billing Support : Assist in collecting and recording co-pays, verifying insurance eligibility, and responding to billing-related questions.Patient Education & Follow-Up : Educate patients on lab procedures, aftercare guidelines, and follow-up instructions; ensure ongoing continuity of care.Required Skills and Qualifications
Certification in Phlebotomy from an accredited program (required)Proven experience in a medical office or outpatient setting performing phlebotomy and patient coordination tasksProficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systemsStrong attention to detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication and customer service skillsAbility to maintain patient confidentiality and professional composure at all timesTeam-oriented, dependable, and adaptable to changing prioritiesPreferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferredPrior experience working in a multispecialty or diagnostic medical practiceFamiliarity with insurance verification, patient scheduling, and front office workflows
