A physical therapist (PT) is a licensed health care professional who

helps patients improve their mobility and reduce pain

• .  They work with patients who have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that limit their ability to move or function.  PTs use a variety of techniques to help patients, including :

Evaluation :  Review patient medical history and referrals, and observe patients' movements and concerns

Treatment planning :  Create individualized plans that outline goals and expected outcomes

Treatment :  Use exercises, stretching, hands-on therapy, and equipment to help patients

Progress evaluation :  Evaluate and record patient progress, and modify the treatment plan as needed

Education :  Educate patients and their families about the recovery process

Training :  Train patients in the use of assistive devices and perform activities of daily living programs
