A Day in Your Role
As a Senior Manager, Business Tax Strategy, you will be a key leader overseeing pass-through tax for The Friedkin Group's diverse operating companies. Your responsibilities will include managing compliance and planning for S corporations and operating partnerships with multi-state operations. You will serve as a business tax expert and advisor, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders and the tax leadership team to support the organization's evolving needs. This position offers a pathway to a directorial role.
In this role, you will :
Lead the timely and accurate filing of business tax returns (specializing in Form 1120S), quarterly tax projections, and tax provisions.Manage multi-state apportionment, composite / withholding taxes, sales & use considerations, and franchise taxes.Oversee coordination and monitoring of state, federal, and sales tax audits, as needed.Collaborate with the tax leadership team to provide consultative tax planning focused on driving value through tax optimization, including evaluations of pertinent regulations.Advise business units on tax-efficient transaction strategies and new business opportunities.Standardize and automate workflows to enhance quality and improve cycle times.Research intricate tax issues and present concise summaries to management.Work closely with the Tax Department to maintain accurate tax compliance representations for the businesses.Collaborate with the Family Office to ensure alignment of tax strategies impacting shareholders.Keep abreast of tax law changes and evaluate implications to minimize organizational and family tax burdens.Lead and mentor a small team, setting priorities, reviewing work, and coaching for development.What We Are Looking For
Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution (required); Master's Degree preferred.7-9 years of experience, including at least 7 years in public accounting (required).Strong technical expertise in Federal business tax, specifically regarding S-corporations and partnerships.Skills in strategic business structuring and transaction planning.Excellence in research and forecasting / modeling.Ability to analyze and articulate complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders.Strategic, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset.Strong leadership and communication skills; proficient in building effective relationships.Expertise in identifying and implementing process enhancements.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire (required).Physical and Environmental Requirements
The physical requirements described are typical for this position. Daily activities include data analysis, communication, and sitting for extended periods. Frequent movement throughout the office and handling of up to 10 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 25 pounds, may be required.
Travel Requirements
Approximately 20% travel may be necessary.
