Fortitude Re is establishing a Data & Systems Governance function to provide independent oversight of Clearwater Analytics and other critical investment data processes. This role ensures SLA adherence, governance of manual data feeds, billing oversight, and project accountability, while driving automation and process optimization. The Vice President will serve as Fortitude Res senior representative with Clearwater and other investment system providers, ensure SOC 1 reviews are performed and end-user controls are incorporated, and provide independent monitoring of reconciliations and data quality across the investment accounting function. The role reports to the SVP, Investment Accounting Controller.
What You Will Do :
Lead Fortitude Res Data & Systems Governance function, providing independent oversight of Clearwater Analytics and related investment data processes.
Ensure Clearwater SLA adherence, managing issue logs, escalation protocols, and remediation tracking.
Standardize governance practices, including root cause analysis, exception tracking, and reporting cadence (daily dashboards, weekly reviews, monthly operating reports, quarterly committee updates).
Oversee Clearwater billing to validate accuracy and ensure vendor accountability for costs.
Govern Clearwater projects and enhancements, ensuring business requirements, UAT, and change management are executed consistently.
Extend oversight to manual accounting feeds to data lake (e.g., Corebridge monthly files for mortgage loans, derivatives, and LPs), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
Identify and lead automation and AI initiatives to reduce reliance on manual processes and improve control efficiency.
Partner with the four asset-class accounting teams and the Consolidated Reporting function to ensure governance over data flows, controls, and reconciliation frameworks.
Review SOC 1 (and other assurance) reports and ensure end-user controls (EUCs) are identified, documented, and embedded into Fortitude Res control framework.
Provide regular reporting to senior leadership, regulators, and auditors on Clearwater performance, exception aging, SLA adherence, and reconciliation quality.
Maintain and enforce SOX / internal control compliance across Clearwater, manual feeds, and other investment data processes.
Ensure governance extends to non-Clearwater entries and reconciliations, strengthening controls around all investment data flows.
Liaise with Clearwater and other system vendors as Fortitude Res senior representative, holding vendors accountable for delivery and service.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, controls, and systems, ensuring governance evolves alongside operational execution.
Support audit readiness by maintaining independent assurance documentation for Clearwater, manual feeds, and other system interfaces.
Serve as Fortitude Res senior voice on investment system governance with internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Have :
Bachelors degree in Finance, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
12+ years of experience in investment data management, operations, or systems governance at an insurer, asset manager, custodian, servicer, or consulting firm.
Deep expertise in Clearwater Analytics (data model, interfaces, reconciliations, reporting) and custodian / servicer data.
Strong track record of vendor management : SLA governance, billing oversight, and project delivery assurance.
Knowledge of SOC 1 reports and ability to identify and implement user-level controls to strengthen Fortitude Res control environment.
Experience designing reconciliation frameworks across Clearwater, custodians, SAP / GL, and data lakes, with effective exception management.
Demonstrated leadership in data governance, control design, and process optimization.
Strong project management skills with experience overseeing system upgrades, releases, and change management.
Clear and confident communicator with executives, auditors, regulators, and vendors, able to drive accountability and results.
Demonstrated commitment to innovation and emerging technologies, including the ability to evaluate, embrace, and guide the responsible adoption of AI-enabled solutions.

The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

$180,000 — $240,000 USD
