The role
The electrical engineer will be primarily responsible for helping the OnPath team to achieve net-zero. The post holder will help develop, build and operate renewable energy projects including onshore wind farms, solar parks, battery storage and other flexible energy generation sites.
- Provide support to the Operations and Grid Director to ensure grid connections are optimised.
- Assist the business development team with grid input and assessments.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to determine the viability of projects, including site analysis and grid connection studies.
- Provide estimates of ongoing charges for future projects.
- Prepare and submit G99 and / or transmission applications.
- Support the delivery and progress management on multiple grid connection contracts.
- Efficiently manage grid payments including securities and liabilities.
- Review and resolve any technical, legal or commercial queries found in grid offers.
- Continually look at ways to improve efficiencies through data analysis and reviews of energy use and losses on operational assets.
- Independent Connection Provider and electrical balance of plant tendering support.
- Deliver the technical input to service energy market understanding and opportunities.
- Develop technical specifications and requirements for electrical components and systems.
- Draft OnPath's requirements for tendering and review tender submissions.
- Ensure projects comply with UK regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
- Professional Development : Stay updated with the latest advancements in renewable energy technologies and industry best practices.
- Training and Mentorship : Provide training and mentorship to less experienced engineers and other team members.
Key performance objectives
Grid assessment turnaround times.Grid connections management – cost / time / quality.Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and electrical balance of plant tender scope accuracy and programme delivery.Promote, contribute, and adhere to the OnPath Health and Safety Plan and all relevant Health and Safety legislation and guidance.Key contacts
The role will report directly to the Operations and Grid Director. Work with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, civil engineers, project managers, planners and environmental scientists.
External stakeholders include Distribution Network Operators, Transmission owners, Electricity Systems Operators, and Independent Connection providers. There may be a requirement to represent the Company at networking events.
Working environment
The role will be based at the OnPath Head Office in Rainton Bridge with visits to our office in Hamilton, Scotland, project sites and DNO offices.
Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Graduate or equivalent, with experience or qualifications in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.Full UK driving licence.Minimum 5-years' PQE, within a renewable energy networks company or consultancy.Experience of HV / EHV.An enthusiastic self-starter who can manage working in a fast-paced environment.Diligent, with high attention to detail.Good judgement, showing logical decision making, and a hands-on approach.Logical planning ability. Ability to concentrate on different tasks at the same time.Ability to role model actions and behaviours consistent with the company values.First class communication skills with the ability to liaise with senior management and technical functions.A good team player capable of delivering excellent results under pressure and to strict deadlines.A positive 'can do' enthusiastic attitude towards addressing the technical challenges facing OnPath Energy.Professional and proactive approach.Apply
