Position Summary
The Senior Licensed Practical Nurse (Senior LPN) provides advanced patient care and supervises LPNs and other nursing staff. This role involves coordinating patient care, mentoring junior nurses, ensuring compliance with healthcare protocols, and acting as a key liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team. The Senior LPN contributes to clinical decision-making and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality patient care including administering medications, wound care, and monitoring vital signs.
Assist in complex clinical procedures under the supervision of RNs or physicians.Monitor patient conditions and escalate concerns promptly to the RN or physician.Supervision & MentorshipSupervise, guide, and support junior LPNs and nursing assistants.
Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback to staff.Ensure adherence to nursing protocols, safety standards, and facility policies.Clinical CoordinationAssist in planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care plans.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.Participate in clinical meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate and detailed patient records, charts, and reports.
Document care provided, observations, and any incidents promptly.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.Communication & CollaborationCommunicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
Act as a point of contact for nursing-related inquiries and escalations.Support patient education and ensure patient satisfaction.Qualifications
Education & Certification :Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing from an accredited program.
Licensed as an LPN / LVN in the relevant state or country.Experience :3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably including supervisory responsibilities.
Experience in hospital, clinic, or long-term care facilities is preferred.Skills & Competencies :Advanced knowledge of nursing procedures and patient care best practices.
