The Senior Environmental Scientist will provide technical expertise and leadership on federal environmental contracting projects. The role will initially focus on a large-scale remediation project on the North Carolina coast, involving soil and water sampling, hazardous material cleanup, and site restoration. Following that project, the Senior Environmental Scientist will support a wide range of environmental assignments across the United States, including investigations, assessments, permitting, and remediation.

This is a field and office-based position requiring a strong background in environmental science, hydrogeology, and remediation, with proven experience managing complex environmental tasks and mentoring junior staff.

Essential duties include :

• Lead and perform field investigations, including soil, water, air, and sediment sampling; monitoring; and site assessments.
• Serve as technical lead and primary client contact for smaller- to mid-sized projects; support project managers on large-scale projects.
• Support and oversee remediation projects, including petroleum, asbestos, and other hazardous material cleanup.
• Prepare and review work plans, technical reports, and data analyses.
• Interpret environmental data, develop findings, and provide recommendations for corrective actions or further study.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, NEPA).
• Mentor and train junior scientists and technicians in field methods, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Assist in proposal development, cost estimating, and client prospecting.
• Participate in conferences and professional societies as requested.
• Adhere to company and project-specific health and safety protocols, including use of PPE.
