Job Title : Cook
General Description : The Cook position is responsible for food preparation, service of
meals, order and delivery of food and supplies, proper food storage, and cleanliness of both the kitchen and dining area.
Days and Hours on Duty : (PM Shift) 10 : 30am-&7pm (40 hrs. a week)
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Prepare resident meals and snacks as indicated on the facility menu.
- Prepares resident meals as indicated by the physician’s order for special diets.
- Follows the direction of the dietary consultant as determined by the residents’ dietary needs.
- Assist with food and supply orders as directed.
- Maintain all delivered food and supplies in proper storage.
- Maintains the cleanliness of both the kitchen and dining area.
- Observe, practice, and understand all safety and sanitary policies.
- Make sure the dining room floor is cleaned and / or vacuumed for each meal.
- Make sure resident tables are set for each meal.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Willing to accept a rotating work schedule for both weekdays and weekends.
- Supervises the proper storage and labeling of all usable leftovers.
- Ensure that the resident dining area is always clean.
Qualifications :
Previous experience working as a food service worker and cook.Previous employer references and / or letters of recommendationFood service training (Safe Serve)Possess a current and valid driver’s license.Ability to read and speak, and understand English.Be at least 18 years of age (Verified by birth certificate or driver’s license)Participate in the required appropriate job training.Possess criminal clearance prior to the presence in the facility.Obtained required health screening and TB clearance, in good physical and mental health, and capable of performing assigned tasks.Possess knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation principles.Possess principles of good nutrition, good food preparation and storage, and menu planning.Able to lift heavy pots.
