Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift PCU / MS Float position requiring proficiency in telemetry and Epic documentation.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital-based PCU / MS float position covering all Progressive Care and Med / Surg units

Float between different PCU and MS units with assignments potentially changing every 4 hours, up to 2-3 times per shift

May float to Inpatient Rehab as required

Patient ratios average 5 : 1 for PCU and 6 : 1 for MS, with occasional flexibility up to 7 : 1

Night shifts from 6 : 45 p.m. to 7 : 15 a.m., 3x12 schedule (4x12 available upon request)

Weekend coverage includes every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block

Must work at least one holiday during each 13-week contract

Uses Epic EMR system; Epic experience required

Responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to a wide variety of patient populations in PCU, MS, and Inpatient Rehab as needed

Engage as a member of the Rapid Response or Code teams when necessary

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Must submit all RTO with application; no Christmas RTO will be approved

Locals are accepted pending facility's radius rule criteria

Facility may call off up to one shift every two weeks

Dress code and scrub requirements will be provided upon assignment

Requirements

Active VA or compact RN license required for consideration

ACLS and BLS certifications required

Must have experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration

Proficiency in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including CPAP / BiPAP and chest tubes

Strong skills in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, cardiac drips titration, and participation in Rapid Response / Code teams

Experience with PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin, and management of endocrine / metabolic conditions

Prior stepdown-level (PCU / DOU / IMC) and cardiovascular experience in pre / post cardiac cath settings

Epic charting experience required

Pending licenses accepted only if from non-compact single-state RN, otherwise must hold active VA or Compact RN / LPN license
