Job description

Position Summary

The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University is seeking a highly organized and service-driven Administrative Support Coordinator to manage front office operations, facilities coordination, instructional support, and student-facing programs. This role supports the academic and operational success of the School's students, faculty, and staff while maintaining efficient workflows and ensuring high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative & Instructional Support : Manage front office operations, student assistant scheduling and supervision, public communications, course scheduling for 200+ sections, Special Study registration, and syllabus tracking.
  • Facilities Maintenance & Event Coordination : Coordinate facilities projects and maintenance across ENS instructional spaces; oversee lab supplies and laundry logistics; plan and execute School events ranging from 5 to 250 attendees.
  • Budget, Travel & Procurement Support : Assist with travel planning, purchasing, reimbursements, and procurement tasks in compliance with SDSU / CSU policies and deadlines.
  • Program & Committee Support : Support the Didactic Program in Dietetics and ENS JEDI Student Advisory Council; serve on the School's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and assist with related initiatives and reporting.

  • Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent / probationary position.
  • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 7 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

    The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is one of the largest academic departments at San Diego State University, serving over 2,200 students across undergraduate and graduate programs. The School offers B.S. and M.S. degrees across disciplines in Kinesiology, Foods and Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Food Science, and Athletic Training. With strong ties to community and clinical partners, the School emphasizes applied learning, research excellence, and workforce readiness in the health sciences.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

    These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical / vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

    Compensation

    Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.

  • Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367) for qualified candidates.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range : $4,367- $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
  • Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
