Job Description and Duties
The Office of the Secretary of State is recruiting to fill a permanent, full-time Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II) position in the Software Engineering of the Information Technology Division (ITD).Under the general direction of the Software Engineering Section Chief (Information Technology Manager I), the IT Supervisor II is responsible for system analysis, software development, project management, planning coordination, scheduling, maintenance, installation, quality assurance and validation, testing, configuration management and acceptance of Secretary of State (SOS) software development projects. The Supervisor must maintain technical expertise in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) related to software engineering, for both on premises and cloud-based applications, developed by in-house staff or supported contract services. The candidate must have excellent communications, teamwork, leadership, and conflict management skills. The candidate will promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work and support the overall mission and values of the Secretary of State through example. This position requires a solid understanding of both standard waterfall development methodologies as well as Agile and familiarity with Application Lifecycle Management tools such as the Azure DevOps platform. Working Conditions
This job advertisement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents, in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to the Secretary of State’s Headquarters (Sacramento), when needed, and on short notice. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
